John C. Tolbert
John Tolbert is a Partner of LEÓN, MAYER & Co.’s real estate practice. In 2012, John merged his
firm, Revelation Consultancy into LM. Mr. Tolbert continues to oversee Revelation Consultancy’s
hospitality, resort and private club asset management activities and is also involved in LM’s
hospitality investment activities.
In 2010, Revelation Consultancy was retained by Deutsche Bank and The Cosmopolitan
of Las Vegas (TCOLV) to aid and advise in the execution of TCOLV's celebrated Grand
Opening event and New Year’s Eve celebrity world premier and to provide expertise on brand
positioning, publicity, public relations and social media strategy for the resort hotel. Since its
founding, Revelation Consultancy has advised across numerous hospitality, resort and club
assignments for owners, developers and management companies.
Prior to founding Revelation Consultancy, Mr. Tolbert was the Chief Sales, Marketing and Club
Officer at Talisker Corporation in Park City, Utah. While at Talisker, Mr. Tolbert launched the
Talisker Club and several residential, mixed-use alpine and golf course developments in Deer Valley;
Tuhaye and The Canyons. John's team was retained by Archon Capital to oversee residential sales
and marketing at The Waldorf-Astoria Park City Hotel and Residences.
Previously, Mr. Tolbert was a Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Wayne Huizenga's
Boca Resorts, Inc. (BRI) where he played a key role in the success of seven iconic luxury
hotels, six private clubs and three luxury yacht marinas, including an operations-focused role as Hotel Manager of the Five-Star, Five Diamond Ritz-Carlton Naples. Following the sale of the
public company to Blackstone, John was recruited to become President of Sales and Marketing for
this hotel group and helped launch Blackstone’s LXR brand of luxury hotels.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Tolbert was part of the sales team that created and launched Hyatt Resorts
of Hawaii. Later, he led the team of Sales and Marketing executives in the opening of one of the
most significant resort developments in the Caribbean, the El Conquistador Resort and Club, a
300 acre resort on the northeast tip of the island of Puerto Rico. He established his passion for
resort real estate with the opening of Las Casitas Village, a cliff-top whole ownership villa hotel
development that was the first to earn the AAA Five Diamond award in the Caribbean.
Throughout his career, John has been at the forefront of envisioning and creating branded
residential resorts and has brought his expertise in hospitality, amenities, golf, ski, spas, marinas,
and food and beverage concepts to such noted brands as Mandarin Oriental Hotels and Residences,
Auberge Resorts, Rosewood Hotels and Residences, Fairmont/Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Viceroy
Hotels, Resorts and Residences, Golden Door Spa, Jack Nicklaus Design Group's Clubs & Lodges,
Kiawah Development Group, and St. Regis Hotels, Resorts and Residences.
John holds an EMBA and is passionate about providing clients the ultimate experience in travel and
real estate. He credits his success to his diverse background, his focus on developing and delivering
the brand promise and a sound understanding of the relationship between financial institutions,
